A 33-year-old patient with her fourth pregnancy is transferred to your “tertiary” care hospital from a small hospital without a NICU at 33 weeks gestation and a history of preterm contractions. She indicates she is not happy about the transfer since she wanted to deliver closer to home and doesn’t like “big hospitals.” Within minutes of her arrival to your hospital, she begins to bleed profusely from her vagina.
