A 28-year-old para 1 woman at 32 weeks of pregnancy presents to the emergency department with acute onset of right flank pain and nausea. The pregnancy has been uncomplicated to date except for asymptomatic bactiurea treated earlier in the pregnancy. The only other significant past history is the passage of a “kidney stone” some years previously.
